Chords
This song is in 3/4 time
There are a few confusing parts that you can pick up easily if you listen to it in
this song, so I'll start with getting those out of the way. Okay, when Zach
Condon plays the Em chord to the F chord, he plays a little transition chord
during the last two beats of the second measure when the Em chord is being
played by lifting his middle finger off of the E string and onto the 3rd fret of the A
string. Don't worry if this is confusing, it'll make sense. He also switches from F
(4 beats long) to Fadd9 (1 beat long) and back to F (7 beats long). Here's a tab to
explain more in depth if you don't get what I'm saying. Keep in mind that the
numbers don't effect the beats and one beat is equal to --.
---|2------|--3----|0------|--0--0--|------|------|---
---|3------|--0----|1------|--1--1--|------|------|---
---|4------|--4----|0------|--0--0--|------|------|---
---|0------|--0----|2------|--0--2--|------|------|---
There is also a chord, C/E this chord looks like this on a tab.

Here's the song now, when the chords are with the words, switch chords when
you're singing the syllable that the chord letter is over.
C C/E Em F C/E Em F
F C/E Em F
Like an ancient day, and I'm on trial
F C/E Em F
Let them seize the way, this once was and island
G C F C
And I could not stay for I believed them
G C F C (Stop playing at "sea-" in "season")
Left for the light's always in season
F C/E Em F C/E Em F
F C/E Em F C/E
Impassable night, in a crowd of homesick fully grown children
Em F G C F C
You'll leave the light, your family may not wait, sir, keep on believing
G C F C
Our parents rue the day they find us kneeling
G C F C
Let them think what they may for they've good reason
G C F C (Keep on playing)
Left for the light's always in season
G C F C G C F C
Oh-aei Oh-aei
(Play last C chord for 3 measures and one beat)
Note: At the end of the song, I find it to sound better if you just strum the A
string and a little of the E string, and at the very last strum, play all of the strings.
Thanks, that's all of it
