While cars had been around for about 50 some years before rock n roll, the peak of vehicles was at the same that rock and other genres formed. Back when cars were giant behemoths with no seatbelts, racing was common, and they were the primary means of hooking up with the opposite sex. Now cars are built for safety and we dream of computers driving them as we are tired of getting behind the wheel! Despite these changes the car still is a common theme for songwriters.
