The Besnard Lakes are a band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, formed by the husband and wife team of Jace Lasek (Vocals/Guitar/Keyboards) and Olga Goreas (Vocals/Bass), and completed by Kevin Laing (Drums) and Richard White (Guitar). According to   Songfacts, their name comes from Besnard Lake in North-Central Saskatchewan.   The band gained critical attention with their second album, The Besnard Lakes Are The Dark Horse, that was nominated for a Polaris Prize in 2007.

The Besnard Lakes est un groupe indie rock de Montréal, Québec, Canada. La formation est dirigée par le chanteur Jace Lasek et son épouse, Olga Goreas.  Le groupe, dont les compositions souvent athmosphériques sont influencées à la fois par le genre shoegazer et par le rock de Brian Wilson et des Beach Boys, a lancé deux albums.  Le premier album, Volume 1, fut lancé en 2003. En 2004, le groupe obtint une brève mention dans un article du mensuel musical Spin consacré à la scène musicale montréalaise.
